What is Elysium?

Elysium is a home AI built around The Butler, an AI agent that understands plain language and runs your home for you. It runs on a hub in your home, in Sovereign mode by default. Instead of tapping through apps, you talk to your home, and it works out what you want and acts.

What products make up Elysium?

One agent and the surfaces it speaks through: The Butler (the AI agent that does the thinking and acting), The Bar (the device on your wall that you talk to) and The Smart Mirror (an ambient display in the mirror). See how it works for the bigger picture.

How does it actually work?

You make a request by voice or chat. The AI agent works out what you mean, decides what to do across your devices, carries it out and tells you what it did. The full walkthrough is on How Elysium works.

Which smart-home devices does it work with?

Elysium is a Matter controller in its own right, so devices from many brands join one home without a vendor hub or app. Today the Butler controls lights (on, off, dimming, colour and colour temperature), thermostats and scenes, and automations can react to motion sensors as rooms fill and empty. More device classes follow. A Matter logo alone doesn't guarantee that a device works the same with every controller, so if you have a specific model in mind, ask us at hello@elysium-labs.ai.

Is my data private?

Yes, by construction. Out of the box the hub runs in Sovereign mode: the AI model, your household's memory, device control and sign-in all run on the hub in your home, and nothing it learns is sent to us or to anyone else. You can check this with the hub's egress self-test. If you switch to Hybrid for a larger model, each resident can choose a cloud model. A request that goes to one carries its text and the context the Butler needs (relevant memories, device states, your preferences), and requests spoken to the hub follow the choice of one resident, whoever speaks. The app shows you that list before you confirm. In Hybrid you can also switch on cloud speech: what you say to the Butler then goes to a speech service as audio, and its replies go there as text to be spoken. It stays off until you turn it on, and the app lists it too. Video and the keys that control your home stay on the hub in both modes. The early-access app we host runs in Cloud mode: your household's data is stored in our hosted service, and the Butler reasons with a cloud model. Does it keep working without the internet?

Yes. In Sovereign mode, the default, everything runs on the hub, so with the internet down the Butler still understands you, your devices respond and sign-in works. In Hybrid, simple light commands, device control, scenes and automations keep working offline; a request that goes to a cloud model needs the connection. In Cloud mode, the Butler needs the connection to reason.

Is The Bar always listening?

It listens for its name, on the device itself. Until it hears that name, room audio stays on the device and isn't stored, and only what you say to it becomes a request. For a few seconds after it answers, it also listens for a follow-up without its name. In Hybrid, if cloud follow-up detection is turned on for your hub, the text of what it hears in that window goes to the cloud model so it can tell whether you were still talking to it; the app lists it among the flows that run only when turned on. In Sovereign mode, nothing it hears leaves the house. You can change the name it answers to just by asking.

How can I check that nothing leaves my house?

Run the hub's egress self-test. In Sovereign mode it confirms that sign-in is local and no cloud credentials are configured, and it fails if any of the hub's services holds a connection to the outside world. Pull the internet cable and keep using the house to see that nothing depends on a remote service. Section 6 of our report Sovereign by Construction explains both checks and their limits.

Can I see and delete what it remembers about me?

Yes. Every memory the Butler forms about you is listed in your settings, where you can confirm it, edit it or tell the Butler to forget it. A forgotten memory stops being used at once. Deleting your account removes your memories and conversations.

Can I just talk to it?

Yes. Natural-language voice and chat are the main ways you interact with it. There is no command syntax to learn; you speak the way you would to a person.
